Police 'unable to comment' on senior officer speculation

Constabulary won't discuss internal issues

The Isle of Man Constabulary says it's 'unable to comment' on speculation that two senior officers have been suspended from duty.

It says it won't discuss internal issues 'to preserve the integrity of such matters'.

Manx Radio asked the constabulary to confirm the veracity of online speculation about two high-ranking employees within the organisation.

Questions were asked about whether an investigation was ongoing, if this had been communicated to other officers and if there was any suggestion of criminal wrongdoing.

In a statement the Isle of Man Constabulary said: "The IOMC are unable to comment on internal matters to preserve the integrity of such matters." 

Manx Radio also asked the Department of Home Affairs for a response.

In reply it said: "We don’t comment on staffing matters."

The Police Federation of the Isle of Man was also invited to comment.

The federation is the staff association for police constables, sergeants and inspectors within the constabulary.

It describes itself as providing legal and professional representation for members to help protect them against malicious allegations, unfair treatment or unfounded criticism.

The federation has not responded to Manx Radio's request.
