Manx police time will be saved if officers are given permission to make three recordings of suspects simultaneously.
Police currently use twin recording machines and have to copy a third tape to ensure the court, defence and prosecution have one each.
However, Home Affairs Minister Adrian Earnshaw will ask Tynwald next week to approve the use of triple deck recorders.
It is estimated the new machines would save £6,000 a year in officer time.
If approved, the triple deck recordings will be made from August 1.
