Police tell hoax callers to 'wise up'

Fake calls delay authorities to medical and police emergencies

Police and paramedics were delayed getting to incidents last night due to hoax emergency calls.

According to a post on the IOM Constabulary Media Page, a number of fake 999 calls were made yesterday.

It says the calls delayed dispatching staff from answering both medical and police emergencies, which in turn, postponed the dispatch of authorities to those who needed it.

Isle of Man Police have described the calls as shameful and are telling people who call the emergency line for a joke to wise up.
