MLC criticises past behaviour of officers as first responders
Police handling of mental health call-outs has in the past been 'appalling' and 'Victorian', according to a member of the Legislative Council.
Bill Henderson MLC is a former psychiatric nurse with 20 years' experience in mental health support services.
He was speaking this week at the Tynwald inquiry into suicide.
Mr Henderson says officers are still not well-enough equipped to deal with mental health:
Main road between Peel and Douglas to shut for tree felling
'Targeted and intelligence led approach' to protect Island's borders during Irish sailings
Airport Director role advertised with top salary of £120,000
