Police receiving high number of calls over burglaries

Police say they're continuing to receive a high number of calls from the public with regard to the recent spate of burglaries.

There have now been 37 across the Island in the last two weeks.

Inspector Derek Flint says 155 incident logs were created yesterday (Thurs) and 65 so far today -  around four times as many as they would expect for the time of year.

He says with such a high volume of calls, some people may have experienced difficulty getting through - but is asking people to be patient and keep trying if they have anything to report.

Inspector Flint says adds it's a great indication of the level of vigilance being maintained by the public and adds that officers will be focusing their efforts on patrols and detection over the weekend.
