Police are looking for witnesses to an incident in the Sunken Gardens on Loch Promenade, Douglas.
It follows an arrest, made at around 12.30am on Wednesday, after reports a man had pulled down fencing in the area.
Officers say the man shouted abuse towards fairground staff as he was being arrested, and they would like to hear from any witnesses.
The abuse appeared to be unprovoked and police say such behaviour won't be tolerated.
Anyone who can help is asked to ring Police Headquarters on 631212, or the anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
