A series of public meetings offering members of the public a chance to influence policing in their areas starts this week.
They will be held in each of the five policing neighbourhoods and have been organised by the Isle of Man's Police Consultative Forum.
Area police inspectors will explain their priorities and strategies and then hear views from the floor.
Senior officers say they are open to suggestions and may use some of the best ideas in their future plans.
Forum chairman Bob Jeavons believes the initiative can offer real benefits (play audio file):
The first public meeting will be held at Sulby Village Hall tomorrow (Tuesday) at 7.30pm.
Then on Thursday, there will be meetings at Castletown Civic Centre and the Corrin Hall in Peel.
