
The largest local authority in the Island says it's getting mixed messages from government on two crucial policies.
Douglas council like other authorities, has been told it may have to take-on some services currently provided by central government, as part of a drive to reduce the overall scope of government.
But at the same time, one of its core functions, public sector housing, may be taken away.
Last week social care minister Chris Robertshaw said he was considering a single, Island-wide housing body, taking responsibility away from the 17 local authorities currently doing the job.
