The head of the Roads Policing Unit says he fears there will be a fatal accident on the Island's roads this summer, unless drivers slow down and show more consideration for other road users.
Inspector Mark Britton is dismayed at the extent of injuries and damage caused in recent accidents, including a head-on smash at Handley's Corner last month.
In that incident all three emergency services were at the scene for several hours, and one of the victims had to be cut from the wreckage of his car. Two drivers went to hospital, seriously hurt.
Inspector Britton is calling on drivers to allow enough time for their journeys, to slow down where children are playing outdoors, and to take extra care looking out for other road users in bright sunlight.
