Douglas Borough Council has closed public access to the Groves Road playing fields and open space.
It's described as "a precautionary measure following the initial findings of an investigative site survey".
Hyder Consultants had been carrying out other surveys in the area and were asked to check out the Groves road site.
Borough Engineer Ian Clague says what they found led to today's action (play attached audio file):
The area made out of bounds with immediate effect runs from the NSC across the Groves Road playing fields, and up to Springfield Road.
