Gov't looks for long term solution as household costs rise
The education minister says plans are underway to introduce a holiday hunger scheme before the summer break.
A voucher scheme for the Easter holidays was approved by Tynwald this week, designed to help families who receive free school meals.
Some MHKs had questions about the long-term plans to combat holiday hunger.
But Julie Edge insists the voucher scheme is only intended to be a short term solution:
Parents and carers will receive two vouchers that can be spent at Shoprite stores before the end of the two week break.
They’ll get £23.50 for a primary pupil and £29.50 for those at secondary school or University College Isle of Man.
