The Isle of Man processes around 1,400 applications annually
The Chair of the Planning Committee believes there is 'confusion' regarding its role, as many people assume the board is responsible for all decisions made.
Rob Callister also feels that recent comments from the panel about the timing of an application for a new mobile classroom are 'fair'.
The Isle of Man processes around 1,400 applications annually, with 20 percent of those reviewed by the planning committee.
However, Mr Callister expressed frustration over the time it takes for the 'hundreds' of officers to provide input:
Overnight sailings cancelled due to adverse weather
Rapist who 'terrorised' his victim told his sentence was 'entirely justified'
Complaints process for health system changed
Discovery of oiled birds 'makes a mockery of our biosphere status'
