The Chair of the Planning Committee believes there is 'confusion' regarding its role, as many people assume the board is responsible for all decisions made.
Rob Callister also feels that recent comments from the panel about the timing of an application for a new mobile classroom are 'fair'.
The Isle of Man processes around 1,400 applications annually, with 20 percent of those reviewed by the planning committee.
However, Mr Callister expressed frustration over the time it takes for the 'hundreds' of officers to provide input:
