It would be located on an area of existing car park
Planning permission is being sought to erect a key cutting kiosk at the Tesco Superstore on Lake Road in Douglas.
The unit would be part of a joint venture by Tesco and Timpson Ltd and would offer services such as dry cleaning, shoe repair, key cutting, jewellery repairs and watch repairs within the Tesco grounds.
It would be located on an area of existing car park, with the applicant stating: "We believe that the site has adequate capacity for this proposal, even at the busiest time of the year."
The Pod is a rectangular shape, with external dimension of width: 6.55m, depth: 2.54m, height: 2.46m.
If approved, its opening hours would be 9am-6pm Monday-Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sundays.
The application (26/00409/B) specifies that dry cleaning would not be undertaken within the kiosk; items to be cleaned would simply be dropped off and collected at the kiosk.
Timpson would also look to recruit a full-time member of staff.
