Culture Vannin hand over prize
This year's Reih Bleeaney Vanannan award, also known as the Manannan's Choice of the Year, has been presented (Fri 2) to someone Culture Vannin describes as "one of the cultural community's most unassuming leaders".
Phil Kelly was awarded the prize at Culture Vannin's Headquarters in St John's, recognising almost 50 years of work in teaching, promoting, publishing and developing online resources for the Manx language.
Culture Vannin Director Breesha Maddrell greeted invited guests with a short speech, before Chairman Chris Thomas MHK presented Mr Kelly with a trophy and medal.
Mr Kelly is a founding member of Banglane Twoaie, the Northern branch of Yn Cheshagt Ghailckagh, or Manx Language Society - he nominated Manx education charity Mooinjer Veggey to receive a cheque for £500.
