
A local police sergeant is preparing to journey to the top of the world.
Phil Drowley leaves the Island tomorrow on an expedition which he hopes will lead to him taking a Manx flag to the summit of Mount Everest (pictured).
The trip has been touch and go in the past few days and weeks, with a permit for the expedition team only being issued at the last minute.
The trip is to raise money for Ronald McDonald House and to fulfil a personal challenge.
Last time Phil attempted the climb he was ill, and so this time he is determined to reach the top:
