Pharmacists 'uncomfortable' over proposed contract changes

Claims introducing fixed-term arrangements could be 'seismic'

An MLC is warning that pharmacists have been left feeling uncomfortable by proposed changes to their contracts with Manx Care.

Gary Clueit voiced concern as the National Health Service Reform Bill went through its final stages in the Legislative Council this week.

He's described plans to move pharmacists from open ended to fixed term contracts as "seismic" and fears it could have a financial impact on providers.

Mr Clueit says he brought forward his amendments after being approached by pharmacists.

While the bill, proposing to change the contracts, is currently progressing through the branches the exact details haven't been shared with providers.

He sought to add assurances to it including guaranteeing providers a right to a renewed contract unless they've breached it.
