Apologises for internal breach
The Minister for Policy and Reform says personal data needs to be handled properly - and has apologised for an internal data breach.
It follows a delay in processing applications for Manx nationality status.
Information had been shared between departments to help provide evidence of proof of good character - contrary to current legislation.
The law is now being amended, with effect from January next year.
Mr Thomas says all sectors of society - not just government - have got to get used to complying to the new laws.
