Board member Katryna Baptist keen to see small projects 'drive traffic' to the town centre
A Peel Commissioner believes one of the local authority's 'main jobs' is to support the high street and improve footfall to the town.
Following a meeting held with 22 business owners, Katryna Baptist says a plan has been drawn up to improve Michael Street - this includes new signage, introducing art boards and tidying up the area.
Ms Baptist said it's 'difficult' to support the businesses if people don't know where they are, and hopes that by using the outcomes from the meeting it'll 'drive traffic' to the street and the shops will benefit.
She's also confirmed the commissioners will be looking to meet again with the traders in September in the lead up to Hop Tu Naa and Christmas as part of an effort to 'involve' them in more of the town's events.
Ms Baptist says in the long term, the board is also looking at improving the parking which she believes will be a 'challenge' due to the nature of Peel.
