Kayla - and seven-year-old Oscar - pick up three prizes
A teenager from the Isle of Man has described scooping three awards at Crufts as an ‘absolute dream come true’.
Kayla Honey won three classes with seven-year-old Italian hunting dog Oscar at the NEC in Birmingham.
She competed in the Hound Group at the event showing in the Cirneco dell-Etna breed classes.
The duo secured first place in the ‘veteran dog’ class and followed-this up with wins for ‘best veteran dog’ and ‘best veteran in breed’.
Kayla said: “Oscar is a great example of the Cirneco breed and a fantastic show dog that knows how to put his best paw forward.
“He’s made my first experience of Crufts an absolute dream come true and I’m so grateful to his owner for the opportunity to compete with him and for her endless support.”
Kayla and Oscar have been showing together at the Isle of Man Canine Society and Mannin Kennel Association events for the past two years.
Oscar’s owner – Janetta Taylor – also competed at Crufts picking up a third place in the ‘competitive open bitch’ class with her Cirneco called Teyva.
Both Teyva and Oscar have now qualified to compete at the event again next year.
Kayla’s mother Emma says she’s proud of her daughter and told Manx Radio she hopes it inspires more young people to get involved:
