Service to be evaluated before decision on whether to expand to other practices

A Manx Care survey shows patients taking part in a virtual GP pilot have indicated 'strong satisfaction' when using the service.

Almost 2,500 telephone appointments took place between April and October for patients at Ramsey Group Practice.

Tekihealth was appointed by the GP practice and Manx Care to increase GP appointment capacity earlier this year.

Responding to a Tynwald written question from Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper, Health Minister Claire Christian says the pilot has created on average an additional 413 appointments per month.

When the Island's healthcare provider conducted a survey of those who've used the service, 20 out of 26 respondents indicated a strong satisfaction for the service.

Manx Care will be evaluating the current set-up, including looking at alternative models on and off Island before deciding whether to expand in the future.
