MHK pleased with awareness progress
An Onchan MHK is calling for routine screening for diabetes to be made more widely available - because too many patients don't like going to the doctors.
Julie Edge raised the issue in Tynwald last month.
Diabetes affects about one in sixteen people in the British Isles, which means as many as 5,000 Islanders live with the condition.
Research into Type 2 Diabetes - the most common form of the disease - has found that it can be reversable with drastic changes in diet.
