Isolated and helpless.
That’s how an Onchan man has described an unwelcome encounter with Romanian authorities last week.
Jonathan Quirk was travelling to Bucharest with his Romanian girlfriend but was refused entry to the country, despite having a full passport which he used without a problem during a previous visit.
Efforts by both the Isle of Man Passport office, the British Consulate in Bucharest and his girlfriend’s family proved unsuccessful and he had to return home.
Mr Quirk has now written to the Lieutenant Governor, Chief Minister and other politicians over the matter.
Whilst he wasn't seriously mis-treated, he says the whole experience was quite a shock and he still can't understand it.
