A 'new era' is about to begin for the Victorian parks and gardens in the Island's capital.
That's the view of Douglas Council Leader David Christian who says the days of people treating the facilities as 'no go areas' because of the mess left by dogs are over.
New laws banning dogs from the parks are now being enforced, and to press home the point evening patrols by bye-law officers have been increased.
Councillor Christian is delighted the parks are being claimed back by the people, and says it's long overdue (audio file attached):
Councillor Christian says there are no plans to change the dogs ban at present, but after a period of time the Corporation may look at bringing in further facilities for responsible dog owners, like the one which has been created at Noble's Park.
