Parkinson's charity in 'desperate need' of specialist nurse

Government urged to recruit support for sufferers

A Manx charity is appealing to government to appoint a new specialist Parkinson’s nurse saying it's in ‘desperate need’.

The Parkinson’s Disease Society Isle of Man offers support, advice and care for some of the 500 people here who are affected by the chronic and progressive movement disorder.

It causes tremors, stiffness and slowing of movement.

For more than two decades the charity has been able to access, and rely on, a specialist nurse but the position has now been left vacant after she retired and her replacement left.
