"Act not as good as code"
The Positive Action Group says the Freedom of Information Act is better late than never – but there are still flaws.
Chief Minister Allan Bell revealed the long-awaited legislation will come in gradually from next February and will only cover information since 2011.
Roger Tomlinson of the PAG, which has campaigned for the laws, says phasing in the introduction is understandable.
But he says he’s disappointed with the restrictions placed on the Act, which would replace a current voluntary code:
