'Giving more aid money the easy way out'
A well-known voice from the Positive Action Group says government's decision in February not to take in 25 refugees over the next several years was "regrettable".
Roger Tomlinson was speaking in this year's News Review programme.
Four charities presented a thousand-signature petition to ask the Council of Ministers to accept a small number of Syrian refugees, but whilst the request was given consideration, it was turned down.
Mr Tomlinson believes the Island rejected people who were really in desperate need and just giving more money to overseas aid was an easy way out.
The News Review programme will be broadcast on Sunday 31st Dec at 1pm.
