July's sitting brought forward by one day to accommodate high number of items

The final sitting of Tynwald before the summer recess gets underway this morning, a day earlier than normal due to the number of items to be considered.

As well as government business, there are several committee reports and motions from backbenchers to be debated.

The sitting starts with the question papers, which features a broad range of topics, including the final cost of the Liverpool Ferry Terminal, work permit legislation and a planning application for a wind farm.

Elsewhere on the order paper, Health Minister Claire Christian will be asking for an additional £15.3 million to cover last year's healthcare overspend. At March's sitting, a similar motion was blocked by backbench members.

Enterprise Minister Tim Johnston has a motion calling for a review of the living wage methodology, Cabinet Office Minister David Ashford has an update on inward migration and Environment Minister Clare Barber will present the annual climate change report.

Committee reports due to be considered include proposals for changes to landfill and waste management, as well as changes to the Tynwald Members Resettlement Grant - that's the payout MHKs receive if they're not re-elected at a General Election.

Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper has several motions, including a call for a biosphere levy to help develop the visitor economy, and the abolition of regional swimming pool rates.

Development at the Park Road site, payments for car parking and opt-out organ donation are also set to feature.

The sitting gets underway at 10. you can follow coverage on Manx Radio's AM frequency, on DAB, online or smart platforms.
