Cannan says minister's comments are a smokescreen
The chairman of Tynwald’s Public Accounts Committee says he’s worried government isn’t taking its responsibilities seriously when it comes to following financial rules.
This week, Alf Cannan MHK laid the committee’s report on silt dredging in Peel harbour before the court – saying there had been clear breaches of financial regulations.
But Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne said the report was politically motivated and hadn’t given his department a fair chance to defend itself.
Mr Cannan says that’s a smokescreen:
Police dealing with 'serious incident' in Ramsey
Consultation open on plans to formally recognise the heritage of Douglas Head
Drop-in session to support Isle of Man charities
Fundraiser to keep St John Ambulance emergency fleet on the road
