Over £9k raised in annual rounders tournament

340 people competed across 34 teams

An annual rounders event organised by The Children’s Centre has raised £9,500 for the charity.

The tournament, sponsored by PwC Isle of Man, was held in June and saw 340 people compete across 34 teams.

Despite last minute team changes team ‘Canada Life’ emerged as the 2024 champion after their final match against repeat past champion ‘One Hit Wonders’.

Jane Howland, Finance Lead at The Children’s Centre, said: "This year’s rounders tournament was truly memorable with all teams bringing a lot of energy and enthusiasm to the event and we congratulate the Canada Life team on their win!

"We are incredibly grateful for the fundraising total reached this year as all monies directly contribute to our work with local children and families in need.

"Offering a wide range of services we help children struggling with behavioural, learning or emotional issues as a result of challenging life experiences.

"Thank you to PwC Isle of Man for their continued support of the rounder’s tournament and a special congratulations to Daniel Bosendorfer who was awarded ‘champion’s bat’!"

Paul Jones, Corporate Responsibility Lead at PwC Isle of Man, added: "A summer event full of community spirit the rounders tournament brings people together from businesses and organisations across the Island all with the aim of generating important funds for The Children’s Centre while enjoying friendly sporting competition.

"We would like to congratulate the winning team and thank all involved in helping to make the event such a success!

"This was PwC Isle of Man’s seventh year as sponsor and demonstrates our continued commitment to making a positive difference in enhancing the lives of local people."
