Alcohol Awareness Week focusses on work days lost

It's becoming apparent that middle aged people are becoming the heaviest drinkers.

This week marks Alcohol Awareness Week, and the focus this year is on the work days lost through over-indulgence.

In the UK around 17 million work days a year are lost through issues related to alcohol.

Running from 7-13 July, Alcohol Awareness Week is an initiative from Alcohol Change UK which says: 'There are so many ways that you can make change for yourself and others this Alcohol Awareness Week as we look at the links between alcohol and work.'

'Whether it’s helping to change the role alcohol plays in a workplace or getting tips for managing your own drinking when the pressures of work pile up, we’ve got something for you.'

The recommended weekly limit for alcohol consumption in the UK is no more than 14 units for both men and women. 

Meanwhile, it's been found younger people are turning elsewhere.
