
Economic Development Minister John Shimmin says the Island’s shops are facing a gloomy immediate future – but he hopes a new report out soon will paint a brighter picture.
In the House of Keys this week, he faced questions from North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson about what he’s doing to tackle a predicted 20 per cent reduction in the Island’s retail sector.
Mr Shimmin outlined a number of initiatives, and said that figure had been produced 18 months ago.
He said the future doesn’t look bright, but a new set of figures due out before Christmas could offer some fresh hope:
