Michelle Haywood warns influx of new members is a 'massive risk'

A politician who lost her seat in yesterday's House of Keys General Election says it's been an honour and a privilege to serve as an MHK.

Michelle Haywood finished fourth in the poll at Rushen.

In a post on social media, she said she was sorry not to be returning, and deeply saddened to see some of her colleagues lose their seats elsewhere.

With 15 MHKs entering the House for the first time, Dr Haywood described the change as 'a massive risk at a time when the Island is facing such significant challenges'.

Dr Haywood adds: "I’m deeply saddened to see some excellent colleagues lose their seats and our Island lose their knowledge, skills and leadership. So many new members is a massive risk at a time when the Island is facing such significant challenges.

"I shall be taking time to spend with my family and friends and looking forward to future opportunities to continue serving our wonderful Island."
