Island outlook bright - despite dismal weather
Crowds have gathered on a grey, rainy day at Tynwald Hill in St John's, for a day of ceremony and celebration.
It's the Island's national day - a Manx bank holiday and an opportunity to salute the Island's independence.
Allan Bell will sit with fellow members of the Manx parliament, membrs of the judiaciary and a host of public dignatories on Tynwald Hill, when 18 laws passed this year are promulgated in public.
Before the formal part of the ceremony he mingled with the crowds during the build-up to a formal outdoor ceremony which has changed little over many years.
He says it is a time to put political differences aside and joing together to recognise Manx democracy and independence:
