
Opthalmic services on the Island need to be developed, and money has to be found to fund this.
That's according to Health Minister David Anderson.
The proposal to end free eye tests on the Island was discussed during Tynwald questions.
Many members felt it could prove to be false economy, with some eye problems going undiagnosed.
But Mr Anderson says it's not a straightforward position, as he has to balance his budget to provide maximum benefit to those who need it most:
