One World Centre disappointed with refugee decision

Charity called for 25 Syrian refugees to settle here

One of the organisations that called for the Isle of Man to accept 25 refugees from Syria has expressed disappointment that those fleeing the country still won't be allowed here.

Chief Minister Howard Quayle confirmed in Tynwald's written answers this week that there are no plans to review the decision not to welcome refugees on the Island.

Instead, the Council of Ministers says it will look for other ways to support refugees from Syria and other nations affected by conflict.

Phil Craine from the One World Centre insists the Syrian Vulnerable Refugee Resettlement programme has been shown to work elsewhere.
