Chair Anthony Allen says the site was putting staff at risk
Onchan Commissioners will be removing its recycling 'bring bank' at Port Jack this Thursday.
Chair Anthony Allen says loading and unloading the wagon in the area 'poses challenges' because it's on a blind bend and there aren't any drop kerbs.
The local authority agreed to the decision at its public meeting last night saying it was in the 'best interest' for the health and safety of the staff.
Concerns had also been raised to the commissioners by Manx Utilities about its proximity to one of its sub-stations and the potential risk of a fire.
Mr Allen says there are a number of other recycling bring banks residents can use which have the capacity to take on the extra waste from Port Jack.
Local Democracy Reporter Emma Draper has been speaking to him:
Residents of Onchan will still be able to use the recycling bring banks at The Hub, Onchan Park, Maple Avenue Birch Hill and Ballachrink Drive.
