Offshore windfarm protestors 'sending message' to incoming administration

Demonstrators gather outside Tynwald during final sitting

Demonstrators gathered outside Tynwald today (21 July) to protest against the proposed Mooir Vannin offshore wind farm.

The crowd has been largely made up of members of the No Offshore Turbines 4 Isle of Man campaign group.

Those taking part say, with an election on the way, they want to send a message to the incoming administration.

Orsted previously branded the wind farm plans for the Island's east coast as a 'once in a lifetime opportunity'.

The final public hearing of the independent panel, which will make a recommendation to the Council of Ministers over whether or not the proposed wind farm should be progressed, took place on 17 July.
