Company secured to start seabed surveys
The company XOCEAN has secured the contract for seabed data collection at the proposed Isle of Man offshore wind farm site.
It's anticipated geophysical surveys will start this month, using uncrewed surface vessels which will assess potential cable routes.
The proposed site is around six to 12 nautical miles off Maughold Head - an area leased to Ørsted by the Manx Government in 2015.
Ørsted held events last November to get feedback on the plans and says it'll release a report in the next week, summarising responses, along with a projected timeline for wind farm development.
It adds extensive consultation and assessment phases are planned for this year, culminating in a planning application submission to government in 2025.
