Officers piece together events leading to death

Police say they are keeping an open mind about the circumstances surrounding the death of a 61 year-old man, whose body was found at the water's edge, below cliffs at Onchan Head.

A full-scale search was launched at around 7.30 last night, after concern was raised about the whereabouts of Eddie Ardern, a former managing director of Heron and Brearley.

His body was recovered by Douglas lifeboat at about 9pm, in the area of the former Howstrake holiday camp, below the Onchan to Groudle road.

Officers have carried out a detailed search of the area as they piece together events leading to his death.
