Officer says 'f-word' is not acceptable

Swearing at police may no longer get you in trouble in the United Kingdom, but don't think you can get away with it in the Isle of Man.

That's the warning from Inspector Derek Flint.

His comment comes after a judge at the UK's Court of Appeal recently overturned the public order conviction a man received for repeatedly using the 'f-word' while officers searched him for drugs.

Mr Justice Bean said officers were so regularly on the receiving end of the 'rather commonplace' expletive that it was unlikely to cause them 'harassment, alarm or distress'.
