Sunniest November ever in Island

... but temperatures took a dive

This November was the sunniest on record in the Island, it's been revealed.

The Met Office measured 96.7 hours of bright sunlight throughout the month, beating a record previously set in 2005.

It follows the release of data showing 2016 as the hottest ever worldwide -prompting fresh concerns over global warming and climate change.

But November temperatures in the Irish Sea were less inkeeping with the trend - nights were on average 2 degrees colder than the yearly month average.

The coldest recorded over the 30-day period was -1.1 degrees celsius, while the hottest was a modest 14.5 degrees.

Rainfall for November was 69.7 milimetres.
