The community spirit is alive and well in the north of the island, according to the man in charge of policing the area.
Inspector Derek Flint (pictured) is head of the Northern Neighbourhood Policing Team based in Ramsey. He moved into the job in May after a period as head of the island-wide roads policing unit based at headquarters in Douglas.
Over recent weeks he's been meeting key movers and shakers around his new 'beat', including local commissioners, and says that everybody knowing everybody else is a great help in fighting crime:
