Northern local authorities 'relieved' boundary extension is over

Two local authorities in the north of the Island say they are 'relieved' the Ramsey boundary extension inquiry proceedings have ended.

This week it was confirmed Ramsey Town Commissioners would not be given the go-ahead to expand. 

If the authority had been successful Garff and Lezayre Commissioners would’ve had some of their land taken over.

For Garff this would've included hill and farmland, glens and The Crosssags. 

But for Lezayre they could have lost Glen Auldyn and houses north of Ramsey to the Dhoor. 

The initial application for a review of the boundary lines was made by Ramsey Commissioners which believed the town was at 'capacity'.

Inquiry Chair, advocate, Peter Taylor held a public inquiry in January which heard evidence from the three local authorities and residents and interested parties who would’ve been affected.

Garff Commissioners says it’s ‘relieved’ the process has now concluded whilst Lezayre has described it as an ‘uphill struggle’.
