Chief Minister says Island cannot receive or process asylum seekers
The Manx government has not held talks with the UK over housing asylum seekers on the Isle of Man.
Chief Minister Alfred Cannan has confirmed the UK Government has made no approach, and there have been no discussion with any other body.
Responding to a Tynwald written question from Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse, Mr Cannan says the Isle of Man cannot make its own rules on immigration or nationality, and cannot receive or process asylum seekers.
It comes despite reports in the UK media in 2021 claiming Britain was considering sending asylum seekers here for processing.
