No pause to vital blood donation during lockdown

Safety measures in place for appointments to continue

Blood donation is continuing during this circuit break to ensure 'vital supplies are maintained'.

Donors will be able to attend planned sessions at the Jubilee Suite in Westmoreland Road, Douglas, with extra safety measures in place.

Pre-appointment checks, PPE use, social distancing and a regular cleaning regime are being deployed at the site. 

Those who were due to give blood but are in self-isolation are asked to contact the donor secretary on 650637 to reallocate appointments.

Health Minister David Ashford says supplies are needed to treat patients in a variety of situations, adding there's no scientific evidence covid can be transmitted through blood donation.
