Manx design could be considered in the future
There are no immediate plans for a Manx version of the UK 12-sided pound coin.
The UK Treasury announced this week that the Crown Dependencies and UK overseas territories such as Gibraltar and the Falkland Islands will be able to commission their own designs.
The coin already has designs featuring the Northern Irish shamrock, Welsh leek, Scottish thistle and English rose.
The Treasury has stated that the move would underline the close links between the UK and its territories.
Whilst there are no plans currently for a Manx design for the UK pound, the government says it may be considered in the future.
