No gong but red carpet treatment at the Oscars

The Manx contingent at the Oscars have experienced the red carpet treatment in Hollywood overnight, although ultimately left the ceremony empty handed.

Animation Chico and Rita was nominated for Best Animated Film at the 84th Academy Awards, up against competition from A Cat in Paris, King Fu Panda 2, Puss in Boots and eventual winner Rango.

CinemaNX co-financed Chico and Rita with an Isle of Man team of artists working on every frame of the film from an office in Douglas.

Silent movie The Artist was the big winner of the night, winning five awards including best picture, best director and best actor.
