No further cases of the horse disease Strangles reported

Testing still underway at yard where case was detected

Testing is ongoing at a yard on the Isle of Man where Strangles was reported last month. 

There have been no further cases of the disease reported since. 

It's a highly contagious bacterial infection of the upper respiratory tract that affects horses and other equines.

Chairman of the Manx Horse Council Ray Cox says testing will continue for another 10 days after which it's hoped the facility can be given a clean bill of health.

Strangles is not a notifiable disease but, given its ability to spread rapidly, owners are urged to report suspected outbreaks.
