Telecommunications company gives details of 2026 project
It's hoped that the Isle of Man will start getting 5G network coverage from next year.
Sure by Beyon made the announcement at a rebranding event in Douglas yesterday (23 October).
The telecommunications company has partnered with a technology business from Bahrain.
It's aiming to invest £100million across the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man towards digital infrastructure, with £48million going towards building a network for the infrastructure.
Ericsson is expected to partner with the company ahead of the rollout.
Chanelle Sukhoo spoke to Sure by Beyon CEO Alister Beak and Beyon CEO Bader Al Khalifa:
Tim Johnston MHK, Minister for Enterprise, Isle of Man Government, said: “The Isle of Man’s digital and telecommunications infrastructure is a strategic national asset, essential to meeting the needs of our businesses and community, today and into the future.
"We welcome Sure’s continued investment in expanding and strengthening the Island’s connectivity, which will enhance resilience, support innovation and emerging technologies, and deliver benefits for the Manx community.”
